Foraging, Gathering

Join me in this hands-on workshop, where we’ll explore the art of basket-making using fibres foraged from the natural world around us. In this space, we will discover the abundance that surrounds us — turning common “weeds” and plants into functional, beautiful creations. We’ll explore the practice of reciprocity with nature, where we gather materials given freely by the earth and craft them into meaningful objects that can be passed on to others.

Throughout the session, we’ll dive into the freedom of creative expression that basket-weaving offers, allowing you to explore your own unique design and style. As we weave, we’ll reflect on our connection to the plants and trees we gather from, embracing the gratitude and respect for nature that guides this work. Inspired by the teachings in Braiding Sweetgrass, we’ll reconnect with ancient practices of creation, using natural materials that can decompose and return to the earth, making the entire process part of nature’s cycle.

This workshop is not just about making a basket – it’s about reimagining the world around us, seeing beauty and function in what we might normally overlook. Whether you’re a seasoned crafter or new to weaving, this session invites you to step into a world where creativity, sustainability, and nature intersect.
